  BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting  
 


Awarded by Oxford Brookes University in partnership with ACCA.

The principal aim of this degree programme is to enable students of Katherine & King’s College of London to have the opportunity to obtain a BSc (Hons) degree awarded by an International recognised university in the UK while studying at KKCL. This degree is awarded directly by Oxford Brookes University and is equivalent to any other honours degrees awarded by any other UK University. This degree programme consists of both examination based assessment as well as a Research and Analysis Project. 

Exemptions
Students can expect to receive exemptions if they have a relevant degree or a relevant professional qualification. The relevant graduates may be awarded some exemptions for the modules. For examples, students who hold CAT or AAT membership will be exempt from the first three modules.

Entry Requirements
We offer various entry points on to this degree programme, depending on age and previous academic qualification. For International students, a minimum of IELTS 5.5 score or Intermediate Certificate in General English is required.

*We may accept application with an IELTS score of 4.5 and above, provided that student completes a pre-sessional English course at KKCL prior to this course.

Examination
The syllabus for each of the nine modules (L1M01 to L3M09) has been developed by ACCA. Examinations are externally set and quality control by both high quality institutions - Oxford Brookes University and ACCA. Each module is assessed by a time constrained written examination. Module L1M01 to L1M03 are each 2 hours in length and are assessed by 100% objective testing; Module L2M04 to L2M09 are each 3 hours in length and assessed by various types of written questions.

Research & Analysis Project (Dissertation)
The dissertation is the final component of the BSc degree and consists of two separate projects; 6,500 words written Research Report and a 2,000 Skills and Learning Statement. Our tutors will provide guidance and advice on the dissertation, and also to verify that each student made an oral presentation at the end of the dissertation. Students must submit their dissertation to Oxford Brookes University before submission deadline, in order to be assessed by the University. 

Award of degree
This degree is rewarded by Oxford Brookes University, which will provide a formal transcript upon request should students wish to submit it as evidence of their degree classification. The class of BSc. will be based on both:

  • the ACCA average mark determined from the exam marks in the Module L2M04 to L2M09 papers
  • the grade achieve for the dissertation.

 Students who successful completed this programme are entitled to attend a graduation ceremony in Oxford and become full members of the Alumni Association of the University. Besides, they are qualified as partlyqualified accountant with ACCA.
