About the Summer English Camp
  • Learning English as Foreign Language

Learning a language is a natural skill which happens most effectively in a natural context. In our Summer English Camp, cultural and social events are designed to complement formal lessons, and since English is the language of communication here, students soon find their own motivation.

Our courses are designed to build confidence through clear and intensive classroom teaching in small groups of 8 on average (maximum 12). Students are streamed by ability at the beginning of the course and awarded an academic report and certificate on departure as well as a class photograph. Our teachers design their courses to suit the individual needs of their students, using a range of course books and a textbook specially prepared for British schools. One to one consultancy is available outside the classroom at no extra charge.

English learning takes up 20 hours per week, including formal language lessons (14 hours per week) and Multi Activity sessions which encourage the development of oral skills (6 hours per week). Students complete a project or journal as a record of their stay and a focus for their written skills (2 hours per week).

  • Multi Activities

In addition to English classes, all students will experience a wide range of Multi Activities, giving them the opportunity to develop new skills whilst using their spoken English in a real context. Each day students move on to a new Multi Activity, working through the programme which includes debating, computing and the internet, designing website, fashion design, music, designing advertisement, dance, drama and art.

  • Social Events

After a full day of English lessons and sports activities, students and staff have the opportunity of relaxing together in the evening. Each week there is a disco, a barbecue, a music and drama night and a sports competition, but also some free time for the students to spend in the comfort of their boarding houses, watching TV or chatting.

In addition to the regular weekly events there is also the possibility of trips to the cinema, bowling and ice skating. There are special events, too, such as ‘Blind Date’, Quiz Night and the highly enjoyable Talent Show in which teachers, students and the Course Director find themselves on the stage.

Samples of timetable are as following. Please note there maybe changes subject to the resource availability.
