Internship

One of the major competitive edges at Katherine & King’s College of London is that our students can take paid work placements or an internship, during term-time or holidays, through our corporate partnerships with a large number of commercial enterprises in the UK..

The second-to-none ACCA 1+1 professional scheme, specially initiated by Katherine & King’s College of London in 2004, aims at providing not only high quality tuition for all the fourteen papers, but also the precious chances for students to obtain work experience in any of 50 UK chartered accountancy firms in London, which is also referred to as ‘ ACCA Internship Scheme’.

It’s guaranteed that after finishing the first three knowledge modules, all our full-time students can take part in such scheme for free and the relevant procedure is simplified as follows.

  • Step 1: Submit CV and personal statement together with 2 passport size photograph to the Internship Coordinator.
  • Step 2: A series of training courses in Sage Line 50 and interview skills etc. are arranged to students for free at the same time.
  • Step 3: Forward CVs to different companies for consideration and interviews are arranged for the student afterwards.
  • Step 4: Students attend formal interviews where communication and calculation can take place.
  • Step 5: Internship agreements are signed and the student start to work straight away.
  • Step 6: At the end, the internship company will complete a summary report on the student’s performance during the period. Meanwhile, the student receives a certificate of internship or a reference from the company.

Testimonials

Cheng
Background: She is from mainland, China and joined in our ‘ACCA 1+1 professional scheme’ in Jan. 2007 after she completed the first nine papers. She immediately got the opportunity to work in one of the largest firms around Oxford Circus. Initially she signed a one-year internship contract and now the contract has been renewed for another year.
"I have been working as interns for more than a year, and I’ve got paid immediately after three months’ training. Now I am confident that I could get a well-paid full-time job after finishing ACCA this year."

Laura
Background: She is from Romania and joined in our ‘ACCA 1+1 professional scheme’ in Sept. 2007 after completing the first stage. She started the training immediately after she joined in.
"I am very, very satisfied with the experience I’ve got from the internship opportunity. I’ve indeed learnt a lot."

Win
Background: He is from Myanmar and started ‘ACCA 1+1 professional scheme’ from scratch in Sept. 2007. He joined in one accountancy firm immediately after he completed the first three papers and he is now studying F4, F5 and F6 while receiving practical training in the firm every week.

"The employer is very supportive and the working time is very flexible so that I could manage my study and work well during the week. During the past few weeks, I’ve learnt the process and analysis of financial information from the clients’ bank statements and produce reports for the end of the financial year by using Microsoft Excel. In my opinion, practical application certainly helps me to understand and comprehend the theory from books, and puts the theory into the real working situation."
