Travel and Tourism Programme

If you are looking for a career in travel and tourism and want to develop skills and understanding that are directly relevant, then the OCR level 3 National Certificate in Travel and Tourism qualifications are ideal for you. The qualifications are suitable for those studying in preparation for direct entry into employment at practitioner level in many sectors of the travel and tourism industry. The qualifications are also very flexible, allowing you to study individual units alongside other qualifications if you want to.

You will develop the ability to work autonomously and effectively. You will build your skills, knowledge and understanding of travel and tourism needed to both continue studying and to start work. You will be able to specialize in particular areas of travel and tourism if you wish and obtain a qualification that is relevant to the workplace. You can take one of the options from the career route we developed or take a combination of the options to achieve a higher level.

Structure and Syllabus

In order to achieve the OCR level 3 National Certificate in Travel and Tourism, students are required to achieve 4 mandatory units plus 2 units from one career option as listed below:

Mandatory Units:

  • The travel and tourism industry
  • Travel locations worldwide
  • Marketing travel and tourism
  • Customer service and selling skills in travel and tourism

Career Option 1 Travel Operations

  • Retail travel
  • Tour operations

Career Option 2 Tourism

  • UK tourism
  • Tourist destinations

Career Option 3 Airports and Airlines

  • Investigating airline industry
  • UK airport sector

N.B. The course structure is subject to changes made at the discretion of the college.

Internal assessment and OCR external moderation

OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and Royal Society of Arts)

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but the minimum entry age is 18 years old.
