ABE Business Information System

 

Introduction

 There is an increasing need for highly computer literate business professionals who can develop business applications using spreadsheets, databases etc. and can work confidently with their IT colleagues. Holders of both the Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Business Information Systems will have had a firm grounding in the essential core IT and business skills and will be able to build bridges between technology and business practice.

Certificate in Business Information Systems (CBIS)

Course Structure

Four compulsory subjects
1.    Introduction to Business
2.    Introduction to the World of Computers
3.    Introduction to Accounting
4.    IT Applications and Skills

 

 

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required, but applicants must be over 18 and also be able to demonstrate competence in the English language by the attainment of one of the following (or equivalent):

1. British Council – Intermediate Certificate in English/ Upper Advanced Certificate in English.
2. LCCI – English for Business (EFB) 1st or 2nd level.
3. Pitman / City & Guilds – English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)/ English for Business Communications.
4. KKCL – Intermediate Certificate in General English

Diploma in Business Information Systems (DBIS)

Course Structure

Part 1 – Three compulsory subjects
1.    Computer Fundamentals
2.    Computer Applications in Business & Finance
3.    Business Communication

Plus one from the following options:
1.    Organisational Behaviour (Management Pathway)
2.    Accounting (Finance Pathway)

Part 2 – Four compulsory subjects
1.    Principles of Programming
2.    Networks and Distributed Systems
3.    Quantitative Methods
4.    Systems Analysis

Plus one from the following options:
1.    Human Resource Management (Management Pathway)
2.    Managerial Accounting (Finance Pathway)

Entry Requirements


Applicants must have attained one of the following entry requirements:

1. ABE Certificate in Business Information Systems.
2. Two GCE ‘A’ Levels together with four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English language and Maths.
3. BTEC National award in relevant subjects.
4. Three LCCI passes at Third Level in relevant subjects.
5. Some overseas qualifications may be accepted as being equivalent to the above.
6. Applicants without formal qualifications are also welcome to apply provided the minimum of two years work experience has been attained. A reference letter from employers must accompany all such applications.

 

 

 

 

Advanced Diploma in Business Administration (ADBA)

Course Structure

Three compulsory subjects

1.    Corporate Strategy
2.    Management Organisation
3.    International Business (Case Study)

Plus two from the following options:

4.    Strategic Marketing
5.    Corporate Finance
6.    Strategic Human Resource Management
7.    Managing the Information Resource

Entry Requirements


Applicants must have attained one of the following entry requirements:
1. ABE diploma in Business Administration.
2. A degree awarded by a recognised UK or overseas university.
3. Other recognised qualifications of approved overseas institutions of higher education.

 

 

 

Advanced Diploma in Business Information Systems
(ADBIS)

Course Structure

Four compulsory subjects
1.    Contemporary Application Development Methods
2.    Managing Systems Change
3.    Relational Database Applications in Business
4.    Internet Systems Development

Plus one from the following options:
1.     Strategic Human Resource Management (Management Pathway)
2.     Corporate Finance (Finance Pathway)

1. ABE Diploma in Business Information Systems.
2. A degree awarded by a recognised UK or overseas university.
