ABE Travel, Tourism & Hospitality

Introduction

The travel, tourism and hospitality industry is today the largest and most pervasive sector within the global economy. The need to provide quality services in a business-orientated manner requires management leadership in all the main functional business areas (finance, marketing, human resource management, and operations) as well as strategic leadership. ABE’s new TTH qualifications provide a pathway through which students can develop a combination of key business skills and industry knowledge in preparation for the varied and exciting careers which the industry offers.

Certificate in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality (CTTH)

Course Structure

Four compulsory subjects
1.    Introduction to Business
2.    Introduction to Business Communication
3.    Introduction to Accounting
4.    Introduction to Travel, Tourism & Hospitality

 

Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required, but applicants must be over 18 and also be able to demonstrate competence in the English language by the attainment of one of the following (or equivalent):

1. British Council – Intermediate Certificate in English/ Upper Advanced Certificate in English.
2. LCCI – English for Business (EFB) 1st or 2nd level.
3. Pitman / City & Guilds – English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)/ English for Business Communications.
4. KKCL – Intermediate Certificate in General English

Diploma in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality (DTTH)

Course Structure

Part 1 – Four compulsory subjects
1.    Economics
2.    Organisational Behaviour
3.    Accounting
4.    Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

Part 2 – Three compulsory subjects
1.    Marketing
2.    Human Resource Management
3.    Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

Plus two from the following options:
1.    Managerial Accounting
2.    Principles of Business Law
3.    Systems Analysis

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have attained one of the following entry requirements:

1. ABE certificate in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality.
2. Two GCE ‘A’ Levels together with four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English language and Maths.
3. BTEC National award in relevant subjects.
4. Three LCCI passes at Third Level in relevant subjects.
5. Some overseas qualifications may be accepted as being equivalent to the above.
6. Applicants without formal qualifications are also welcome to apply provided the minimum of two years work experience has been attained. A reference letter from employers must accompany all such applications.

 

 

Advanced Diploma in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality (ADTTH)

Course Structure

Three compulsory subjects
1.    Corporate Strategy
2.    International Travel, Tourism and Hospitality
3.    Tourism and the Environment

Plus two from the following options:
1.    Management Organisation
2.    Strategic Marketing
3.    Strategic Human Resource Management
4.    Managing the Information Resource

Entry Requirements


Applicants must have attained one of the following entry requirements:
1. ABE Diploma in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality.
2. A degree awarded by a recognised UK or overseas university.
