Any person coming to the UK to pursue a full time course of study and lives here lawfully is entitled to free primary medical services through NHS ( National Health Service ). It is advisable to register with your local GP practice as soon as you arrive in the UK . For more information on where your local GP is check the website www.nhs.uk.
Emergency Service at your local practice as well as at any Accident and Emergency Departments is free of charge but might cease to apply once a patient is formally admitted as in-patient for hospitalization e.g.: emergency operation. If you should need any hospital treatment you will have to possess a valid student visa and proof of attendance on a course. Be aware that charges for that may apply.
The Dental Services are not included in the primary healthcare system so you will have to pay for the treatment, which is not cheap, although you may qualify for some discount depending on where you register. Besides due to shortage of dentists you might have to wait for quite a long time for the appointment.
